Hi, My name is Jon Newell and I have been playing trumpet since 1978, at the age of 15. I learned at high school and then through brass and concert bands. I have played in all sorts of bands, orchestras and ensembles at various levels and I continue to play in a 9 piece band in Sydney called "Horn Stars" which mainly does corporate functions and some public club and pub gigs.

Jon - in his element

A few years ago, I was looking for a new trumpet and started to see what was available. Being familiar with all the famous brands, I was surprised to find many other brands available, all describing themselves as being good quality instruments. Because of the incredibly low price of some of these instruments, I went ahead and purchased several for my own evaluation. What I found was mostly very poorly made Indian and Asian instruments, some from the USA and Europe ended up being as above, but custom branded generic instruments. Some were appallingly bad, in fact unplayable. Give one of these instruments to a beginner and they would give up very quickly. They had bad valves, slides that did not move, poor finish, poor sound and intonation. One brand even smelled of cutting oil from the factory, it hadn't even been cleaned and was greasy to touch.

From this experience, I saw the opportunity to provide people with good quality instruments at an affordable price. Instruments which are well made, sound good and come with a money back guarantee. Through research and a lot of effort, I found that many of the leading manufacturers actually had their student & some intermediate instruments made for them in China.

Manufacturing in China provides the opportunity to realise processing efficiencies and thus keep cost low, but still being of a quality to carry their good name. Yamaha for example has many of their instruments made in China. Being at the forefront of developing its industries, China has quality manufacturers with the latest tooling, techniques and quality control to deliver truly world class products. Take a look around your home, your appliances, computers, electronics & clothing - It should come as no surprise that the majority of them proudly bear the marking "Made in China".

After testing many different sample instruments from several manufacturers, implementing materials and design changes and further testing, we have a range of instruments unique to Storm.

I now present to you my own range of good quality instruments at a reasonable price which you can buy with complete confidence. Final adjustments and quality testing is done by me in Sydney and I am so confident of their quality that I offer you a No Questions Asked Money-Back Guarantee and am committed to developing further products, including custom instruments.

By dealing directly with us, you are buying an instrument which would sell for at least double the price if available through a retailer.
